Canada’s shortcomings in enabling people with disabilities to live a rewarding and productive life, when will there be a Canadian Disabilities Act which is at least the equivalent of the American Disabilities Act, which mandates national standards to meet the needs of the disabled population? For example: - Construction and facilities that are ADA compliant -Public washroom facilities which are not user friendly - Living independently but with adequate assistance when needed - The financial burden of living with a disability - Travel and transportation challenges and difficulties with airlines - Living in a cold winter climate with ice and piles of snow - Ageism and disabilities - Emotional challenges
