Sharon Sholzberg-Gray,C.M., is an accomplished public policy professional who has been a Chief Executive Officer for various national non-profit associations for over 25 years in the health and social policy sectors. At the beginning of Ms. Sholzberg’s career, she worked as a lawyer and was a member of a working group in the Privy Council Office to implement recommendations of the Royal Commission on the Status of Women. She was also Project Director of the National Legal Aid Research Centre at the University of Ottawa.
A graduate of Science, Law, Arts and Public Policy from McGill University, Concordia and the University of Ottawa, Sharon Sholzberg-Gray has also distinguished herself by once being the Vice-Chair of Associated Medical Services; the first alternate member of the Ottawa Board of Health; a Member of the Board of Governors of the Quebec Bar Foundation; and a member of the external Advisory Board of the McGill University School of Nursing. She is currently a member of the Advisory Council of the Centre for Health Law, Policy and Ethics at the University of Ottawa Faculty of Law and a regular policy contributor to the Pearson Centre for Progressive Policy.
Ms. Sholzberg-Gray was the first woman President of the McGill University Student Government in 1965-1966. It was in visit to Ottawa during the sixties that Sharon Sholzberg met and later married the late Right Honourable Herb Gray, the longest continuous serving Member of Parliament in Canadian history and former Deputy Prime Minister of Canada.
In July 2018, Sharon Sholzberg-Gray was appointed to the Order of Canada for her advocacy work for Medicare.
